Prevent Violence NC
Prevent Violence NC is a cooperative effort by the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and four statewide agencies to encourage coordinated violence prevention initiatives across the state. Here you'll find the latest research and tools to help build key community, family, and individual strengths to prevent violence and promote health.
Prevent Violence NC highlights the strategies, resources, and innovative prevention work being done by communities across North Carolina to reduce key risk factors and strengthen key protective factors shared across five forms of violence: child maltreatment, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, suicide, and youth violence. Featured strategies focus on building the following Key Strengths at the policy, organization, community, relationship, and individual levels: employment stability and economic opportunity, community connectedness, positive school climate and school connectedness, parent-child connectedness, and healthy social and emotional development.
One important goal of Prevent Violence NC is to connect initiatives to build these Key Strengths. Prevent Violence literally puts prevention on the map by showing where community violence prevention programs are happening across the state.
North Carolina is rich with examples of programs building key strengths to prevent violence and promote health. Programs in North Carolina are invited to submit information about the violence prevention work they're doing in NC and may also nominate a program.
