Coaching for Change

Coaching for Change offers two interactive online training programs, one for high school athletic coaches, and one for coaches working with youth ages 10-14 in community athletic programs. It defines terms and provides coaches with resources on how to address sexual violence and teen dating violence. The training includes sections on cultural norms, courageous conversations, proactive prevention, and recognizing/responding to red flags.

Coaches for Change harnesses the prominent role of sports in society to create positive social change. This training module teaches coaches how to recognize and address sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and teen dating violence and introduces skills and strategies for creating a team culture of gender equity and respect. It helps coaches teach young athletes how to model respect and honor, both on and off the field, in order to promote positive change and prevent gender-based violence.

The Coaching for Change online modules are parallel trainings specifically developed for high school athletic coaches and coaches working with youth in community athletic programs, but is available to all. Sign in with an email address to receive access.

This program is free and can be utilized by local/state high school leagues and community athletic networks. For more information related to the implementation of the training and/or subsequent organizational policy or protocol development, email Chuck Derry at gvi@frontiernet.net or Ed Heisler at ed@menaspeacemakers.org
