Ten Men
Ten Men is an integral part of the RICADV's statewide plan to prevent intimate partner violence in Rhode Island. Every year, the RICADV recruits ten male community leaders who are asked to work within their spheres of influence by:
- Educating themselves and others about men’s role in ending domestic violence
- Bringing visibility to men engaged in domestic violence prevention efforts through public awareness campaigns and communications strategies
- Mobilizing the community to find solutions for preventing domestic violence
These materials provide examples of how to use traditional and new media to engage men in conversations about domestic violence prevention, and it helps to bring men's engagement work to the community level. Ten Men members and the RICADV use these materials to help create an atmosphere across the state that is intolerant of domestic violence. These tools also illustrate how compelling this work is to individual men.
Digital stories can be used as engagement and recruitment tools. The RICADV is willing to provide technical assistance for community groups that are interested in implementing a similar engaging men strategy in their community. Visit our website for an upcoming case study on Ten Men which will include more program details.
The Ten Men Theory of Change was developed to help communities understand how this program affects change across multiple levels of the Social-Ecological Model.
