Healing Indigenous Lives Native Youth Town Halls
This report presents the proceedings of four Native youth-led virtual town halls in which Native youth shared their concerns about public safety and tribal juvenile justice issues, hosted by the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The report highlights participants’ reflections on what makes them feel safe, community challenges, and calls to action.
This report centers on Native youth participants’ reflections on strategies for promoting safety in their communities, including connection to elders, traditional healing, restorative justice practices, and more. Action recommendations are included to provide concrete steps for promoting safety and healing.
