Clemson students, researchers help test sexual violence prevention app
"Clemson, S.C. (WCIV) — Not sure how to respond when you see behavior on campus that promotes sexual violence?
There may be an app for that.
Clemson University researchers are collaborating with a game publishing company on an app to help prevent sexual assault among college age students.
In the game, players are introduced to characters and scenarios which culminates at a party.
Characters in the app model sexist attitudes or rape-supportive beliefs.
Players can remain passive and not respond when other characters express these behaviors or the players can intervene. The app also includes mini-games that put users into real-life situations.
The app will coach people in to how to recognize these behaviors and intervention strategies from experts in sexual assault prevention."
