Primary Prevention Institute Learning Community

Category:

The Primary Prevention Institute (PPI) has three objectives:

  • to build the capacity of youth-serving organizations to plan, implement, and evaluate theory-based programs
  • to create a community of learners for ongoing peer support
  • to incorporate theory-based prevention tools and techniques into organizational practices at each participating agency

There are three distinct tiers of the PPI, each designed to address a specific need within partner organizations. Tier One focuses on training managers and front line staff in the strategies of primary prevention, including the principles of prevention, theory selection, logic model creation, and evaluation. Tier Two utilizes a train-the-trainer approach, training learners from the previous year’s Tier One cohort to mentor staff within their and partner organizations in the strategies of primary prevention. Tier Three is a leadership working group, bringing together executive-level leadership from partner organizations to tackle the challenges associated with incorporating the strategies of primary prevention into organizational practices.
