IPV Prevention Council Member, Deb Debare, to be Honored

Date:
Thursday, 17 September 2015

YWCA Rhode Island will honor 13 ‘Women of Achievement’ at its eleventh annual awards luncheon on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.

Since 2005, YWCA has sponsored this statewide recognition of women whose accomplishments span the fields of industry, culture and public service. This year’s recipients are a diverse group that includes veterans, educators, public service officials, non-profit leaders, community volunteers, a performer, a scientist and an organization/volunteer partnership that works to rebuild homes – positively impacting the whole community through rehabilitation of surrounding schools, parks, gardens and nonprofit facilities.

Deborah DeBare, executive director of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, will be one of this year's award recipients. Prior to her twenty years of work at the coalition, Deb spent five years at Domestic Violence Resource Center, four years at RI Rape Crisis Center and two years working for State of Rhode Island in the Department of Mental Health. DeBare has been involved in numerous boards and task forces, including National Network to End Domestic Violence, RI Coalition for the Homeless, RI Emergency Food & Shelter Board,  United Way Community Investment Advisory Council, and the National IPV Prevention Council.

Congratulations, Deb, and thank you for your work to foster healthy families and communities!
